The European New Right: From Nation to Empire and Federalism

Introduction

Throughout the 20th century, the extreme Right has been opposed to European unification and has embraced the nation-state as the only viable model of political and economic organization. It has represented the most extreme nationalist views, maintaining the right of the state to expand territorially and economically at the expense of other states. In the extreme Right view, international politics is a perennial conflict between states, and any type of international alliance is considered to be transitory and dependent on particular historical circumstances.
