Because of the numbing shock of September 11, and because subsequent events continue to unfold in disquieting and unexpected ways, it is impossible to draw definitive conclusions, either for politics or for the Critical Theory. After all, Telos is not a journal of current events, and none of the contributors can lay claim to any special access to intelligence sources (not that there is much evidence that intelligence, in any of its meanings, has been especially well used by the political class or by the mainstream media).
