This is a brief consideration of the terrorist actions in New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia on 9.11.01. It situates their effects on the US and the world in the changing geopolitical conditions of the post-Cold War era. Rather than standing with the Right in seeing these violent events as another sign of some alleged "clash of civilizations," or siding with the Left in agreeing that the US finally got a "taste of its own medicine," these observations seek to grasp the new political realities.
