Heidegger on History and Politics as Events

Heidegger's politics have been subjected to numerous criticisms, most of them by mediocre scribes,2 and they have been answered by some of the best minds of the century.3 In the end, to summarize what Heidegger called this "great stupidity,"4 one could go with what Peter Sloterdijk later discussed5 as an "optical illusion," according to which the "Nazi revolution" is seen as a return to the "specific" (deep-rooted) and the "true" (authentic),6 finally regaining, or rather reconquering, the spiritual Heimat after centuries of metaphysical and later techno-scientific wanderings.7 Heidegger's resignation after a brief stint (eight months) as Rector of Freiburg University...
